Today’s DC coffee adventure has us staying in the neighborhood of Dupont Circle to check out a local shop called Emissary Cafe.
It was down the road from the airbnb we were staying in and on the way to the Metro! That is a double win since we needed to catch the Metro again this morning in order to get downtown to see the monuments and cherry blossoms!
This morning I had hoped and thought I did my research well enough that we would be able to also grab a bit of food here. BUT the kitchen does not open till 930AM and that was still and hour and a half away! Yikes, we needed to get moving too in order to get to the Holocaust musume to get in line for tickets.
A Sarah FAIL!
So we grabbed some coffee and scurried across the street the cafe that was serving breakfast sandwiches instead. Unfortunately these sammies were not over fast to make so that kinda slowed us down this morning.
Back to the coffee review thugh, this cafe is a coffee shop by day and a bar in the evening and it’s the cutest things ever! If Danny and I were to ever open a cafe this is exactly how we would want it to operate, there was so much seating inside, tables bar stools, couched and a bar tucked into the back. There was also a small patio with a few picnic tables! How cute and plenty of seating and availability for everyone.
Danny order his faithful cappuccino and I went with just an oat milk latte, my stomach was feeling a little uneasy this morning so I wanted to keep it pretty simple. Both our drinks came out right away and we sat and enjoying the calm coffee shop for a bit, but knowing we were on a now even tighter schedule we did not spend too much time here since we wanted to grab a bite before hitting the Metro. Danny really enjoyed his cappuccino while my oat milk latte was not hitting the spot for me this morning. I cannot completely put my finger on it, possibly too much milk? Or not steamed enough for my personal liking, but unfortunately I was not able to finish it this morning.
Running on no caffeine today! Yike we shall see how this one goes. I wish we had time in our trip to come back here for drink though, cause the cafe was the cutest thing ever! They even offer yoga classes upstairs! Yes please!
