Buzz: Killer Espresso

Buzz is the place to be on a Sunday morning, it’s buzzing with waves of customers all morning long! Buzz: Killer espresso is clearly a Wicker Park neighborhood favorite, damn you Wicker Park and your delicious coffee shops! I would move out there for that sole reason, they have: Buzz, Wormhole, and Cafe Streets. These are just the cafes I have visited, there are more and I plan to visit them all.

All the reviews I have read about Buzz, it that it is a great coffee shop to go to and get work done, they give you free wifi and there is a lofted upstairs with ample space to grab a seat and some table to work at. So my plan for the afternoon was to try some coffee, espresso of course and muddle through some AdWord partnership study trips from Google. It was literally a PERFECT fall day, hard to believe it’s already November and the holidays and creeping up on us whether we are ready or not. I personally am not ready at all. I am always a last minute shopper and for this reason I stress myself out. But I cannot wait for all the food and desserts. I love the holidays for all the cooking and baking! Trying new recipes and even putting a twist to the family classics to make them something special. So bring on the turkey, sides, and pumpkin pies!

So while I’m over here dreaming of holiday food, I’ll get back to telling you about this awesome coffee buzzing coffee shop. I was the lead to the first wave of buzzing coffee getters this morning. Walking in the coffee bar is on the first level which is quite narrow and small two seater tables line the wall. The menu is quite extensive too, you can order any type of fair trade coffee beans you could think of! Whichever region is your favorite Buzz will have it, I promise. They of course also have a whole menu dedicated to espresso, as they should since it is in their name: killer espresso! I opted for a latte, wanted to try the espresso, but couldn’t get myself to have a shot of espresso before sitting down to work.

Sounds funny doesn’t it! But there is no way I can take a shot of espresso and just sit, I think I would lose my mind. I need to be walking or moving if I plan to take a shot of espresso. I planned to try the just before leaving Buzz.

Like I said, this is one popular neighborhood coffee shop, there were actually not seats upstairs! I was so shocked and was not expecting that, so while waiting for my latte I stood on the ground level in hopes that someone sitting at one of the two seaters would leave by the time I got my latte. Ehh no such luck, but it was close enough that after getting my latte I only really had to wait another few minutes. For me I don’t consider that bad, gave me time to take a few pictures.

The latte was amazing! I didn’t add any sweetener or flavor, wanted to actually taste the espresso. Oh my goodness this stuff was good! Such a rich delicious and addicting flavor. It was hard to put the latte down, quite delicious and not bitter in the slightest bit, their espresso really is killer!

Buzz started to clear out so we were lucky enough to grab a table, to sip and enjoy or latte at while also getting some work done. Oh a very funny interesting thing about this coffee shop, you have to ask for the wifi information, which the barista will then give you a little fortune cookie type sheet of paper with your own personal wifi password. I thought this was a little odd. Your personal password allows you to sink up one device for a total of 120 minutes!

This just really goes to show how popular this place is. They need to put time limits on their guests that come to do work! Don’t come here planning to spend the whole day. So anyways, not even 30 minutes had past when the next wave of Buzz coffee addicts came through, there was a line just to the door. When the Buzz waves roll through you will know because the cafe will start to get loud with the barista taking and working on the coffee orders, also the chatter of the people waiting for their coffee. So sitting on the ground floor I was easily distracted by the lively and friendly environment. I was enjoying and taking it all in when a crazy thing happened, a Bernese Mountain dog came in with its owner. I could believe my eyes! This is a dog friendly coffee shop folks! Your pooch is able to come in with and can sit inside, only on the first floor, with you too! I was in complete awe! Well HELLO this is why this coffee shop is a favorite among the locals.  Who wouldn’t want to enjoy their coffee with their canine companion.

We lasted through a few more waves of Buzzing coffee goers before we ourselves started to feel bad for monopolizing a table for so long. Just 30 minutes shy of losing our wifi access, so maybe 120 minutes is the perfect amount of time? Who would have guessed.

Regrettable I didn’t take the time to try an espresso shot before leaving, they had so many delicious sounding espresso shots that you better believe I’ll be back soon enough.
