Herb and Alchemy

Herb and Alchemy you have stolen a little bit of my heart! Of course it’s a brand new coffee shop in Lincoln Park, they all seem to be opening now that I have left the neighborhood, fitting right?

Herb and Alchemy is right on the corner of Diversey and Lincoln Ave. the perfect spot for commuters to grab a coffee on their way to the L. The cafe is basically all windows too since they are right on the corner, which is awesome since it fills the whole place with a ton of natural light. Which they totally need since there are a ton of plants in this cafe!

Entering the cafe we were right away greeted by the two baristas behind the counter, both extremely friendly. As of right now the cafe was not busy, but that quickly changed. A family filed in after us and then the line started to build up. Luck for us we were able to place our orders before the line got started.

Their menu is a very standard cafe menu with all the classic options, but the ices morning matcha drink caught my eye and the barista assured me it was extremely refreshing. Welp sold, since I have recently been having a huge matcha craving. I did elect to add a shot of espresso, just to give it that extra touch of caffeine to keep me going all day today. While waiting we were able to check out the coffee bar, they have a TON of loose leaf tea options! Will have to come back and try some of the tea, could have assumed by the name there would be some good tea selections.

The cafe space in general is awesome though, there is a ton of tables and room for people to hang out without feeling like they are on top of each other. There are chairs and counters along the windows, lounge chairs and then regular tables as well. There were a few people working here too and this would be a great cafe for that due to all the space there is. Granted when the line gets going it can get loud in here.

For those looking to spend a lot of time here there is no food on the menu and very small selection of pastries to pick from, but the drinks are top notch!

My morning matcha was so delicious and refreshing, it really hit the spot this morning. Man just talking about it now is making my mouth water, I could really go for another now. They use matcha and a naturally name date sweetner to make the most delicious matcha drink I have ever had. I think it beats out the sawada matcha drink!

I know I said it.

Are there any other good matcha cafes I should put on my hit list?
