City Coffee

Happy Labor Day weekend! This weekend has been a wild one that’s for sure and a coffee coffee trip was much in need. Danny was the one who actually woke up more motivated to find a new place than me! Or it was his way of making sure I got in the car to join on the last few errand runs we needed to make this weekend.

Either way it worked and I happily got in the car to join him on our days adventure. First stop; City Coffee

This is an adorable, relatively new coffee shop in the Ravenswood neighborhood. This is part of the reason for our delay in coming up this way to check it out sooner. Ravenswood can be a bit of a drive, but now already living half the way there it’s just a 10 minute drive up the road instead of 25! Time savings!

We were also lucky and happy to discover it was open on the holiday too!

City Coffee was bumping this AM, I was impressed! Walking you you instantly walk a few shorts steps down into the cafe, tables to the right, couches to the left and the coffee counter straight ahead. Simple.

Heading to the coffee counter there were two baristas working this morning, one taking the orders and the other was moving around in the back getting the drinks put together. I was a touch disappointed to see they were roasting Intelligentsia beans, I am not a fan of their coffee but their espresso roast isn’t too bad.

We both landed on a latte from their specialty menu, cinnamon vanilla for me and the candy bar for Danny. Mine is pretty self explanatory I feel, but Danny’s had, mocha, hazelnut and caramel mixed into one drink. It sounded interesting, a little too sweet for something I would naturally want but I was glad Danny ordered it cause it certainly sounded like something he would enjoy.

When we got our drinks a woman on the couch had actually overhead us order the candy bar latte and asked how it was, Danny and I were both actually a little surprised that it was not nearly as sweet as we initially were expecting it to be. Don’t get me wrong it’s  a sweeter latte drink, but if that is the mood you are in this is perfect then! Mine was also quite delicious, heavier on the cinnamon but hit the spot perfectly this morning. I also had added an extra shot for an extra pick me up to get me through the day.

Loved our trip to City Coffee and will certainly make it back here often knowing we are much closer now.
