Compass Coffee

Morning one in DC! Let the adventures being and what a more fitting coffee stop than Compass Coffee – guiding us through the downtown of DC.

Today is our big downtown and museum day so coffee and a good compass are both ironically needed. Lucky for us Compass Coffee is all over the downtown area so we were able to pick a location that was close to the museum we wanted to check out first thing this morning. Today was a Friday and this Compass Coffee is located in the lobby of an office building, unfortunately I had not really noticed this in my research before we showed up. So walking in there was quite a bit of a line. They kept it moving right along though which was great! So we really did not have to wait long,it was actually the perfect amount of time I needed to take in the menu and decide on a drink choice.

The barista was amazingingly friendly, considering how busy it was she still took the time to answer our few questions on their specialty drinks without making us feel like we were completely holding the line up.

The Starbucks in my office lobby will NOT strike up any form of conversation during peak busy hours, they are more worried about filling the coffee drink orders. So coming to Compass and not feeling rushed out the door was nice.

Their specialty drinks consisted of, Iced mint mocha, Hibiscus sweet tea, Vanilla cream cold brew, Iced matcha latte and Nitro almond chai cold brew! Like wow these options are all over the place and honestly all sounds so delicious, just typing that I wish we had actually made another trip to a Compass Coffee shop so I could try another. After short deliberation I landed on the Vanilla cream cold brew! Danny kept true and order the cappuccino! He also last minute added to the order a slice of the cinnamon coffee cake.

As I am sure you can assume we didn’t need to wait long at all for our drinks to be ready, they were moving those drinks through at lightning speed! We were lucky enough to grab a small table in the cafe ot enjoy our coffees, coffee cake and the atmosphere before the musume down the street opened. My iced coffee was so amazing, but it was a bit much on the swete cream and I should have known better when ordering. But had to at least give it a try before adding my own personal Sarah touch to the drink. Danny also loved it, said it reminded him of the first few times he started ordering coffee where he would add sometimes too much cream to the drink. Considering we are such espresso junkies now this was a touch sweet for both of us. He was so sweet and dumped his cappuccino into the drink to help make it stronger. So we ended up sharing the drink! 🙂

After the extra espresso was added the drink was perfect! Yum the perfect cool summer drink, just has me dreaming of all the iced coffees to come.

Compass also had a huge selection of teas I wish I had tried, has anyone tried the other drinks or teas from Compass?
