MY cup of Joy

You can’t enjoy or appreciate a cup of coffee without first appreciating the mug which holds the coffee.

Feast your eyes on this beauty, my hand crafted coffee mug! – Well painted by me at least!

My coffee enthusiastic friend and I went to a pottery painting shop in the area to tap into our creative side for the night. It was a blast!

There is no better way to sum up our experience other than it’s a MUST! We both had a ton of fun pretending we are crafty artists; coming up with our own designs, picking out the paints and color schemes!

If anyone is looking for a relaxing night I highly suggest checking this place out! Glazed Expressions on Armitage.

The walls are lined with pottery just waiting to be painted; anything from holiday themed sculptures and figurines to kitchen utensils, plates, serving platters, spoons, even ice cream cone shaped bowls! If you’re at all indecisive this could present you with quite a predicament. The girls working the shop that night were lovely; helping get us newbies get started and then it was hands off. We didn’t end up needing them again till we were figuring out how to pay and leave.

Naturally once we both saw the coffee mug selection it was game over.

Another awesome feature to this small pottery shop is once you pick your piece of pottery you get to sit and immerse yourself in designing and drawing whatever you want on your mug! I couldn’t be more happy! These kinds of projects have my name all over them and the ability to create something completely my own and beautiful to enjoy coffee in each morning is AWESOME!

It makes my morning coffee reflection more enjoyable and being able to surround myself with all things positive that bring joy into each morning.

For me starting my day on the right foot always starts with a piping hot cup of joe and a chance to self reflect, organize my personal goals for the week and then my professional goals and tasks for the week. Giving myself a few minutes to breath in the fresh aroma of the coffee, all things good and beautiful in life and exhale the negative, stress and bad that builds up within.

For those of you not able to make it to  pottery painting shop to paint your own mug, fear not! Because surrounding yourself with things that bring you joy in the morning does not have to be a painted mug like it is for me. Maybe it’s the mug you got as a gift from a family member or someone special, maybe it’s a mug that was passed on to you or one you took from your parents. Any mug that brings you feelings of strength, pride and inner peace will do the trick. Enjoying this moment is what coffee is all about for me!

I hope through the rest of my posts I can help you enjoy your personal coffee moment, suggesting places, brews and new techniques to try with coffee.
