Yay for Monday mornings when you have the day off They are just the best, I am totally trying to rub it in too by the way.
This morning we are off to a brand new coffee house that just opened up down the road, Doppio Coffee! We saw it getting setup and the finishing touches getting put into place as we were moving. It opened then just about a month ago now.
What better way to enjoy the day off than exploring a new coffee shop? I can think of nothing better! We parked right up front and ran in to see what this new cafe had to offer. Naturally on a Monday late morning it was not busy at all, just one other customer sitting in the front windows. I wasn’t expecting it to be busy at this hour, but I do wonder how busy they get in the mornings during the week. The location is right on Lincoln Ave. but not close to the L stops or anything, so unless you are catching a bus it is not the most friendly commuter cafe.
The barista’s face lit up when we walked in the cafe that morning, beyond thrilled to see customers. He allowed us the time to take in the menu which was much appreciated considering this was our first time and with the cafe not being too busy he could have easily badgered us a bit.
This is the first coffee house I have seen offer CBD as an additive! Interesting. I have only had one drink with CBD added, it was a cocktail and I personally cannot say I tasted or felt anything from it. Granted when CBD is used/added to things it’s just for relaxing, not to actually feel the high effect weed would have on the body.
Aside from that the menu was very straightforward with the traditional cafe options. Danny ordered a cappuccino and I went with a latte with honey added. While waiting for the drinks we took a seat and started to admire all the photography hung up around the cafe, all for sale and beautiful city shots! Once our drinks were ready the barista, who now I believe to be the owner, hand delivered our drinks and thanked us for coming in. Such a sweet touch.
We took our drinks to go as by this point we were both ready to be home and relaxing with some breakfast! Danny liked his drink though I found mine to be a bit odd tasting. We both agreed it was likely from the honey that I added. So my own fault. I’ll need to come back and try other items on the menu.
The espresso was delicious and strong here so I can only imagine how wonderful the cortado would be.
