Another day and other coffee here in DC! This time another neighborhood local – Filter Coffee!
Filter Coffee had actually been my recommendation as the first coffee shop we should stop in once we landed since it was very close to the airbnb, but they do NOT have WiFi. That was just not going to work for us that day sonce Coffee Bar it was. But this morning since our plan was to wonder through the local farmers market Filter was the perfect fit for a quick local stop for some espresso!
Another local coffee shop in the basement of a building, you don’t see this often or really at all in Chicago so it was pretty cool seeing it done so much here in DC. Danny and I both found it to be a great use of space too. Well since espresso bar is literally in the name here I decided that after yesterday morning’s opps of a coffee order i would go with my old faithful and see what DC had to offer me. Dirty chai tea latte and cappuccino to go please!
This coffee shop is a total local hangout, you could pick up on the vibe right away. The three barista that were behind the counter, were chatting about the upcoming baseball season and what team they were a fan of. Extremely welcoming and friendly group of baristas. I even pulled a total out of towner move and checked on a few transit questions regarding the busses and metro. They jumped at the opportunity to help. No one knows better than the local barista anyways!
Coffee in hand we were well equipped now to venture into the cool morning and off to the farmers market! Unfortunately neither Danny nor I were crazy about our beverages this morning. The chai for me I felt was a bit too strong actually, or just not the right taste. Danny felt his cappuccino was a little on the weak side. We still loved the cafe experience but have had better coffee.
BUT a warm cup of a coffee is always a win when its a cool rainy morning. So I still enjoyed carrying it around and wandering through the farmers market.
Which PSA – If you are ever in the Dupont area on a Sunday morning you absolutely cannot miss their farmers market! It was wonderful and huge! Busy with venters and people, ohh this just made me so excited for our farmers market season to kick off outdoors! Summer and getting fresh produce from the market has got to be my favorite thing!
