On weekends we head to the suburbs I always insist on a coffee shop stop before we hit the road. It’s honestly a perfect opportunity since we are already in the car, so Cup and Spoon here we come!
Like most mornings when we are planning to head to the suburbs we still wake up pretty early, to beat any traffic on the road and of course coffee is always needed first thing in the AM anyways. Once we got Duncan in the car we hit North Ave and drove out to Wicker Park to see what Cup and Spoon has going on.
For the past week at work I have been talking to my coworkers about how amazing Scone City is and I think in bragging about this amazing shop I have created a serious internal craving for a scone. I was beyond thrilled to see Cup and Spoon also offered their own scones. Cause this craving needed to be satisfied. Cup and Spoon is also part art gallery too, the art hanging on the wall is constantly changing. What a cool and interesting feature to have at a coffee shop, each time you come in there will always be something new and interesting to look at on the walls. All done by local artists and art students.
Today the art on the wall featured a bunch of drawings of cats and dogs!
Danny and I looked over the menu and he landed on getting the lumberjack latte, which happens to be one of his favorites, I ordered their specialty vanilla latte. We both ordered the blackberry scone with a blood orange glaze! (wishing I had this now to eat for a second time). The scone is not as god as the scones from Scone City, but this flavor was damn delicious! I would go back for it!
This cafe is awesome for people looking for a place to come and work from, there is free printing, aside from the sweets and treats they offer with coffee there is also a lunch style menu with other food options to pick from, simple like sandwiches, salads and soups. There are plenty of tables and space for people to come in and space out too without being in the way of the cafe counter and those coming and going. This morning too, thought it was still early, it was the perfect calm morning. Just a few people sitting in the cafe.
Though we got lattes, they coffee beans offered here at Cup and Spoon is called LittleFoot, I had never seen or heard of them before, but their logo is adorable and addicting to look at! I will 100% be back here to try the coffee or at least next buy a bag of beans, LittleFoot has a great story and they truly love their coffee, though originally form Michigan the coffee love started here in Chicago for them.
Once our lattes where ready we hit the road shortly after, of course sneaking a sample of the scones before taking the mess into the car. Scones absolutely need to be eaten with coffee, they can be so dry that I recommend dipping your scones in your coffee. It’s basically a breakfast adult throwback to everyone’s childhood of dipping cookies in milk. But I would have to say scones and coffee are better!
My vanilla latte was mouth watering delicious, the vanilla was the perfect sweet touch that I was seeking for this morning. Danny on the other hand did not particularly like how his lumberjack latte was made this morning. There was a touch too much maple added into the mix, I would have to agree with this because it covered up the taste of espresso. We both think it was just how this particular latte was made, cause normally all the flavor in the lumberjack latte blend so nicely together.
This would still not deter us from coming back.
Has anyone else see LittleFoot coffee beans sold in cafes in Chicago, I really need to get back and try their coffee. But would also venture to another cafe where they are served.
There is nothing to say about myself I think.
