Off to the newest Lakeview coffee shop, tha has been receiving a HUGE amount of hype on social media, Cafe Deko! They took over another coffee shop location called the Department of Coffee and Social Affairs. If you’re curious here was my visit when that was open.
But back in Marh when the city went on lockdown they regretfully had to close their doors for good. Then just a few months back we started to see activity taking place in this cozy corner cafe on Halsted. Low and behold NEW absolutely adorable coffee shop was in the making.
Cafe Deko is 100% the coffee shop you want to come and hang out in, the walls are lined with cozy booth seating facing into the middle of the cafe, tables in the middle of the space and high seats and tables along the window on the Halsted side.
They even have a sliding to-go window! That is a huge win for just the times these days and for those that might have a furry friend with them on their walk!
Just look at the detailed decorating going on here! So much care and thought. The owner George was in the shop this morning working the espresso machine! They source organic beans and craft each drink with passion and care. You can tell by his eye to details and caring to make each drink himself.
Danny and I ordered an oat milk latte (me!) and house cappuccino. Both made to perfection, the espresso was a medium roast that had a rich chocolate flavor that blended with the foam on each of our drinks nicely. Making them both easy to drink rather quickly.
I have this new thing where somehow I tend to chug my coffee drinks these days, I’m not sure when that got started, but I sometimes have to get myself to slow down. I think I am a little spoiled with my espresso machine at home, I’ll drink my drink fast but just make another one, where now with cafe purchased drinks I catch myself needing to slow down.
Good and bad thing right? Clearly means Cafe Deko has a great bean and drinks! Highly recommend getting out and supporting it if you find yourself in Lakeview.
