Coffee Mill

Happy 4th of July!

What better way to celebrate the holiday than with friends, family, sun and fireworks. I hate to admit but I am actually not the biggest fan of the 4th of July. My family use to host a huge pool party with friends and we would have everyone over all day to grill, swim and then watch the fireworks in our front yard! As a kid growing up this was literally like Christmas in July, friends would come over, we ate cake to celebrate my mom’s birthday and then fireworks in the yard. It was perfect. As we children all got older we wanted to start making our own plans to celebrate the holiday and with that attendance of the party gradually disintegrated to the point where we stopped hosting all together. Ever since that date I never really had plans for the holiday since, I would bob around with friends but nothing quite like these parties!

So you can imagine my excitement when we set our plans to attend Danny’s family 4th of July gathering in Wisconsin and then have a mini gathering with my family for my mothers birthday. Was getting double family party action! Danny’s family has a lake house on Lake Geneva, but this year his mom decided she wanted to rent a townhome at the Abbey Resort, which is just down the street from where their lake house is. The main reason was to allow Ashley and baby Avery a little more privacy and quiet time when they needed it. Totally understand that so Danny and I get to reap the benefits of that! (Thank you Anne)!

Right around the corner from where we were staring was a coffee shop called the Coffee Mill, so Sunday morning Danny and I woke early to walk the lake path and grab some coffee before the day filled activities took off. When we drove up we were about 15 to 20 minutes early before the cafe opened and there was already a mini line starting to form, this already a clear sign of it being the best and probably closest coffee in the area. Once the door opened the line started to get moving rather quickly though, they were ready for us!

Coffee Mills  serves and roasts Anodyne Coffee! Danny and I had our first sample of this when we visited Milwaukee and LOVED it! I was so excited and pleasantly surprised as well! They have a wonderful macadamia nut based latte that fit both my love for nuts and espresso all in one! Knew what I was getting immediately.

The Coffee Mill cafe is the perfect lake house based coffee shop, there is enough room for guests to come in and find seating if they so desire, both inside and out. They offer your typical pasties and yogurt parfait type snack. Perfect place to some escape the sun and fuel of on some coffee, they offer it all from cold brew to any form of espresso based drink you could think of. They also have plenty of trinket for sale too, so guest looking to take home a mug or Tshirt will slo find what they want here as all.

Of course I ordered the Nutty Pedestrian and Danny the Honey Bear latte! Both were of course delicious, Danny after ordering f course wished he had asked for his on ice but aside from that we were complete pleased with the coffee selection and drink making. All the baristas were fast and extremely helpful and cherie!

Hilariously enough while in line waiting for our coffees we turn around to find Danny’s older brother and fiance a few people behind us. They also appreciate a good cup of coffee so it shouldn’t have been too much a surprise bumping into them there. After the four of us all got our drinks we headed back to the townhouse to enjoy our drinks outside on the patio! Literally the perfect start to the day and the holiday weekend.

Cheers to the holiday with family! 🙂
