Wondering where all the basic people go to take pictures in Nashville? Is a neighborhood south of the city, on your way to Radnors Lake you will pass through it, called 12 South. Frothy Monkey is the coffee shop in 12 South where certainly ALL the instagram gals go.
Somehow in all of my Nashville research this did not come up at all! So I’m a tad upset with myself for completely missing this neighborhood cause I would have planned to visit not on a weekend day but during the week when you can happily walk the streets without lines. For my next trip to or just through Nashville!
Either way this after walking around the lake I think Danny and I both wanted a mini pick me up, thinking Danny was a little more in need than I was. He also might have done his research, even when we first past Frothy Monkey he said he wanted to stop in. So naturally now that the line was not outside the building I was willing to go. Granted the coffee shop is small already, but SO packed.
We were the last people fitting inside, if anyone had gotten in line immediately behind us they would have needed to stand outside! For me this was a good thing because they have quite a long list of specialty drinks and and options to pick from. Danny of course landed on ordering the Hummingbird latte, this is our secret weakness the hummingbird cake. Its filled with delicious pineapple, bananas, pecans, raisins sometimes carrots and then has a light sweet cream cheese frosting on top. If you haven’t had or never heard I highly looking up this southern treat. It’s to die for. Was very impressed they had a latte where they thought they would be able to cram all those great flavors into. I being pretty standard Sarah ordered a honey and rosemary latte, a little spice and little sweet.
While waiting in line we were able to take in the cafe vibes, they had relaxed coffee house music playing and on the other side of the cafe is where you would be able to find seating and a little more space to move. The coffee line side was pretty cramped. There are tables and chairs outside too, this helped since it was so nice out people would get their coffee and go enjoy the fresh air. Once our coffees came up we took to the streets right away, nothing better than having a coffee to walk the neighborhood with.
Let me just say though, both of our lattes were the best coffees I had this whole trip! They were amazing, in Danny’s you could actually pick up on all the flavors without it being too sweet. All syrups they use are made in house and with natural ingredients so you know already it will be pretty good. Mine was amazing as well, I could not get enough of it. If only we had more time to come back and try some of their food even, everything we had was delicious and the food that was coming out of the kitchen I caught a glance of all looked extremely fresh.
I loved the drinks here and would absoluetly highly recommend, I would even say grab this on your way to the lake and enjoy long stroll next time.
