Back on my weekly coffee adventures! I love summer in Chicago, people are all outdoors and it just puts everyone in such a good mood too. For me it increases my urge to get out and explore more of the Chicago neighborhoods and coffee shops! So this morning I convinced Danny to hike it north with me to North Center for coffee before we head to the burbs.
Coffee Joint here we come!
This past week the Chicago Tribune’s breakfast restaurant reviewer actually featured Coffee Joint, were she raved about their breakfast sandwiches and lattes. So this instantly bumped this place up to the top of the list.
Night before, our plan was to head up there with Duncan, grab coffee and breakfast on the patio, walk around a bit and then continue our journey to the suburbs. Sadly Mother Nature was not feeling as excited as we were about breakfast outside on the patio and it ended up being a cool cloudy morning. Coffee Joint didn’t even have their patio furniture out 🙁 sadness.
W ended up taking everything to go and enjoying it in the car since we both felt bad about leaving Duncan in the car. Do not let this deter you from visiting this ADORABLE cafe, we had bad luck, this place is worth any tip to visit. The inside is everything I would want in a home kitchen, exposed brick, exposed wooden beams on the ceiling, wooden tables and coffee counter! Some plants on the walls and decorating the coffee counter, but the real charm is with the sketchings on the brickwall. Drawings of deer, flowers and birds! It was stunning work, that looked like it was hand drawn with a chalk!
This morning Coffee Joint was wide open when we came in and there was only one bubbly barista behind the counter. Today they were roasting Metropolis coffee beans, but after some conversation with the barista they are constantly rotating beans throughout the year. I noticed they offer oat milk and i am a complete sucker right now for oat milk, so I went with an oat milk latte! Danny just went with the house latte and the ham and swiss sandwich. The barista took extreme care while crafting our lattes, making sure everything was measured out perfectly, I say this because it did take longer than your average coffee shop to get our drinks together. Granted she was the only one working and was also in the process of assembling the sandwich too. I don’t mind the time but for those looking for a faster cup to go this might not be the place.
Both lattes in hand I head back out to the car to meet the boys! Duncan always gets SO excited when he sees either of us walking toward him he just about knocked the lattes out of my hands! Or maybe he was hoping one was for him?
Could get him to be a coffee dog after all!
The drinks were both extremely delicious and the perfect drinking temperature right away! I only wish the patio had been open and we could have sat and enjoyed them there. We will be back either way cause the patio looks like it would be lovely, the lattes were delicious and the breakfast sandwiched are all toasted paninis and that is a sammy weakness for me!
