Cupitol Streeterville here we come! This morning is set to be quite the adventure so naturally I planned a much needed coffee pit stop to ensure we were ready for the day.
Last weekend we attempted to get out and spend time with Danny’s mom since we missed her birthday and of course as luck would have it for us we discovered a large car issue that ended up consuming our visit. So this weekend we are headed back out, in a rental car, to go pick up Danny’s fixed car! Took the L into the Loop, scooped the rental and now off to Cupitol.
This cafe is in Streeterville, right along the river and just before you hit Navy Pier. Thinking this is relatively new to the area as I have never heard of it and when you first go to Google the cafe the Evanston location comes up first. Either way, we pulled up and jumped out looking to grab some coffee and a bit before hitting the road.
Cupitol cafe is actually a pretty large space they offer both grab and go service as well as dine in. Also, appears to be a great spot for locals to come and get some work done as well, there are a ton of seating options from high tops, window bar stools, couches to regular dining tables. When we first entered the manager was at the door directing traffic. Not that it was crowded at this time, but making sure that people who did want to dine in knew where to go and that they could go sit and be served on.
We stood in line for the grab and go. The coffee, drink and food menu were quite extensive there were so many options for pretty much anything you could imagine. I last minute decided to go with my safe order of a chai tea latte and Danny a cappuccino. We both order breakfast pastries too, he go the ham and cheese croissant and I the spinach pie.
It was extremely fast and friendly service, you could tell they don’t want to keep the grab and go people moving as the area up front in not that large and quickly could make the cafe feel as if it were full when really there is plenty of seats and room around. Our drinks were ready and I have to say that my chai tea latte was actually not what I was hoping for, it taste a bit too spicy and I was not a fan of it this morning. Possibly just my mood that day, but I dont think would order again. The food was fabulous though! I would go back for the spinach pie any day of the week. It was perfectly flakey and had enough spinach to satisfy my picky taste.
PSA: the best part about this cafe is when you first enter its as if you walk into an apartment lobby where you walk up a few steps before opening the door into the cafe on the right, there was a table here that when walking in I paid no attention too but when leaving there was a dog leashed to the table! The tables sole purpose is to lesh your pup up while you run in to grab coffee! Without really needing to leave your dog outside on the street! How awesome and thoughtful! I was obsessed with the idea and thought!
