Damn Fine Coffee

Damn Fine day for some Coffee – Basically everyday but today is a little extra! We are off to get some coffee from Damn Fine Coffee out in Logan Square on Armitage.

Side note, I have to admit the neighborhood lines for Logan Square quite confused me. Everywhere “claims” to be in Logan Square. Does anyone else run into this? Welp if I ever am unsure what neighborhood a coffee shop is in I think I’ll just start to default to Logan Square!

It’s a rainy gloomy day here in Chicago, this is the perfect storm for a coffee shop visit! The only wonderful part of this day is that it’s magically warmed up from -20 degree to 50 degrees! Oh baby you better believe after this Fine coffee Danny and I will be hitting the lakefront with Duncan.

Damn Fine Coffee is actually quite a drive, when we pulled up and parked the car I was observing how far away Lincoln Park looked! Kinda crazy, but this coffee shop is 100% worth the trip. Damn Fine Coffee is not a large coffee shop but perfect for people that live in the area to pop in with a friend to grab a cup of coffee and relax for a little bit. There are a few tables set up in the front of the cafe that are community style as well as stools along the window. Walking straight back you will walk right into the drink menu and coffee counter.

The baristas here this morning were welcoming, but I dont think were much in the mood for my chat and silly chat. While trying to converse and place my drink order they were not finding me entertaining. Oh well, my humor is not for everyone. Danny ordered a  large cappuccino and I went with the special Ronitano, a mix of honey and cayenne! Yummers. I added of course na extra shot to mine, but was so glad I did too. Damn Wit Coffee roasts Half Wit coffee beans, my current all time favorite coffee bean in the city. It’s always such a special treat when I see Half Wit coffee beans!

The coffee shop only had one other couple sitting and enjoying their coffee, aside form the slight talk coming from them there this was a very quiet and peaceful coffee shop. Kinda wish I lived in the area cause the quiet was actually extremely relaxing. While waiting for the coffee to be ready Danny went back and ordered himself a pistachio donut! I was giving him a hard time for not telling me he wanted that when we first ordered. He just laughed and said he wasn’t sure if he wanted it, but while waiting couldn’t pass it up. It’s a Do-Rite Donut pistachio. Which neither of us have had before and they are actually quite good. Completely covered in nuts and there was hit of lemon in the glaze, much better than Firecakes version on this if youre to ask me.

Coffee ready to go we jumped back in the car to head home. My latte was actually quite spicy, normally I welcome this, but today was not feeling the amount of heat I was getting after each sip of my latte. Might actually have to pass on this special latte next time. The espresso was beyond delicious though so I still drank the whole drink.

Anyone know of other coffee shops in Chicago that roast Halfwit Coffee beans?

  1. I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills and also
with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it
yourself? Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it’s rare to see
a nice blog like this one nowadays.

  2. It’s amazing to pay a quick visit this web page and
reading the views of all friends on the topic of this paragraph, while I am also eager of getting know-how.

I really loved what you had to say, and more than that,
how you presented it. Too cool!
