You guys will literally think I have lost my mind. After leaving Steadfast Coffee Danny and I drove down the road to the Nashville farmers market, that shouldn’t surprise you, but what might is once there we got ANOTHER coffee!
Really getting that coffee itch scratch with this vacation.
I think it was more on impulse than actually needing another coffee, when we visit the farmers markets here in Chicago we almost always will have a coffee with us and so upon entering this massive farmers market we found ourselves in line and chatting with the most adorable barista that completely sold us on getting another coffee. She reminding me so much of my aunt, small, blonde and just busting with friendly welcoming personality. I almost wanted to invite her to come sit and hang with us. She was just wonderful!
Her cafe is called Farm City Coffee and it’s a small coffee stand in the middle of this massive food court portion of the farmers market. Prime real estate!
The market is huge and set up with multiple sections, there is the the food court portion with all the food and drink vendors on the circumference while the table chairs are set up in the center of room family style. Then you can exit the building leading you through the farmer’s shed, this is where farmers in better season or even more popularly during the weekend would come and set up their booths of produce and whatever else they are selling.
The shed appears to have two portions, one for produce and other for art and antiques, I can see this really being a huge attraction during the summer months. After walking through the shed portion of the market you are directed into the garden center. Not sure an explanation is needed there, plants galore!
If there were actual farmers and merchants here today we could have spent hours here just wondering through everything. So worth the trip and extra coffee to come check out!
WOW I complete forgot to tell you all about the coffee I ordered! There was an interesting drink on the Farm City’s menu called Spanish Dancer. Curious, had to inquire what that consisted of. The basic geist of the drink is espresso missed with sweetened condensed milk, like Cuban coffee would be served. Very heavy and enficic on the espresso flavor. SOLD. Something new that has a focus in espresso flavor, I’m there. It was delicious and not over sweet, you absolutely got the flavor of the espresso with a sweet aftertaste to wash it down form the sweetened condensed milk. My only gripe would be that as the drink cooled the sweeten condensed milk sunk to the bottom and made the last few sips I took sweeter than I would have prefered. Needs to be drank much faster.
Danny orders a vanilla bourbon latte, the favors in this beverage will knock your socks off! It was the perfect mix of flavors, I think he should have added another shot of espresso to balance out some of the steamed milk, but that’s a personal preference and complaint. He was perfectly content and really enjoyed his drink!
Has anyone visit other midwest cities with great farmers markets? When we were in Milwaukee we happened into their version of the indoor farmers market and this is where Danny and I fell in love with finding ways to visit a market in each city we visi.
