Happy Cinco de Mayo! And a very Happy Birthday to my adorable pup Duncan!
It’s a beautiful sunny morning here in Chicago and the weather is projected to be stunning all day! What a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday. Danny and I have some birthday baking plans as well as grilling and margarita making! Love this holiday! Before all the celebrating gets started though, coffee!
Maison Marcel Lincoln Park here Duncan, Danny and I come! Maison has a huge adorable looking cafe up in Lakeview that is known for being a fun bunch stop. But just recently, like within the past few months, they opened a small pop up window in an ally in Lincoln Park. How tendy of them right?
Originally my plan was to walk Duncan to the Lakeview location. I knew they of course had coffee and food so that I could also get a little food in Danny too. But then we decided it would be fun to find this adorable new cafe that is a bit closer too. We also figured after we could then take Duncan to the park and walk around. Vs. if we went to Lakeview that would be about as for as Duncan could walk.
Slight down side is the Lincoln Park window oddly does not open till 8am while the Lakeview location opens at 7am. So we left with the thought/intention that when we got they would be open. BUT we got there 20 till 8am. Opps so we just posted up and enjoyed the sun, also taking a photo shoot of Duncan for his Bday. He HATEST the camera! Maybe one day he will be less camera shy.
Once Maison did open though we were of course the first in line! I ordered an iced coffee with cream and Danny he very standard cappuccino also two croissants to go! Danny got a delicious chocolate pistachio and I got a golden raisin one! Yummers!
Marison is literally the most adorable popup window though! They are playing topical music to go with the vibe, hanging decorations outside and even a pup bowl with teats too. Very very Instagram picturesque. Course I was taking all the pictures I could manage to get in.
Coffees and treats in hand we were off to the park to find a bench and enjoy our breakfast! Duncan was loving coming back to the park as we well. I think he actually was remembering coming here as a puppy all the time. Sadly the pups were not out and playing as there was amini league baseball tournament taking place. Kids and players were literally everywhere! It was fun watching some of the baseball game while we drank our coffee. Our croissants were delicious too, and I don’t normally like croissants! After enjoying that treat and break for Duncan we then decided to walk down our old street on our way out to the lakefront trail to walk south home. Such a wonderful walk down memory lane it was this morning and then once we hit the lakefront we were still able to get out there before it got too crowded with others!
I think next time I will totally be dragging Duncan along the lake up to the Lakeview location. I’m not hooked and want to see what other pastries the bigger cafe is making and offering!
