First Sip

Happy coffee day, SUNDAY! Every Sunday we are off to another coffee shop in the city. Its my perfect excuse to get Danny in the car and drag him all over the city just for coffee. I usually spin it as of course my treat and then we grab our groceries for the week too. So it’s kinda like a win for everyone!

This morning unfortunately Duncan woke us up at 5:30am because he was walking around the apartment, probably passing a little thinking he needed to go to the bathroom, at least he was able to lay back down for a bit. But come 7am he was not letting us sleep any longer, he needed to go. So we got up and ready for the morning, quick walk, grabbed the car and hit to road for Argyle Street to get coffee at First Sip

We have not been up to Argyle since we came up this way a few years back to celebrate my birthday, I was excited to come back up! First Sip is literally on Argyle Street, so I have probably walk past it and never noticed! Unfortunately I did not check what time the cafe opened and we showed up an hour early! Opps so went up the road to grab our groceries first. When we came back we actually parted at the exact time the barista was getting dropped off for work! (we are morning people). We gave her a few minutes before heading in.

The cafe stole my heart! Literally it was the cutest thing EVER! There were hanging atriums in the window, plans on all the shelves and the floor too! It was beautiful! The coffee counter was also uniquely decorated with hanging tea cups! It was so unique and adorable, I loved it. Also, to go with the tea cup theme this cafe has a very extensive tea list, the coffee offerings were extremely interesting and extensive too. The one drink that had prior to coming had caught my eye was the pistachio mint latte, what an interesting and fresh combination. Granted I was so thrown off wen we got there because there were so many other delicious sounding beverages I almost changed my mind. A few other drinks were; First Kick: cold brew, coconut milk and jalapeno slices! What an interesting mix! I couldn’t do cold brew this morning, but you bet your butt i’ll be back to try that in the summer!  A few other were mango and orange blossom lates! YUM to all those flavors. Wish I could order a shot of each.

Danny and I both stuck with our orders of pistachio mint lates, normally the late is made with oat milk but apparently there is an oat milk shortage right now so we just went with skim milk. Wondering if the milk change altered the drink a little?

When we tried the drinks the first thing you smell while taking a sip was the pistachio and then you taste the espresso and milk with a minty finish at the end. It was very very interesting, I think the espresso might have been burnt a little, it was a good drink but not sure I would order it again. Or at least I will have come back when there is not a oat milk shortage. It was interesting, Danny and I both enjoyed but would not say it was our favorite. Wishing I had order some of the tea even just to go, heat it up later at home. The menu and all their drink offerings look and sounded wonderful.

Overall First Sip was a wonderful cafe experience that I 100% plan to come back to in the summer, they have so many drink option to pick from I’ll need to recruit my family or friends so we can all sample different drinks from the menu.
